Delivering Your New Puppy All puppies must be paid in full before they are shipped. Your puppy will be shipped to you when it has been weaned from it's mother long enough to eat and drink at will and with out prompting. We take every precaution to make sure your puppy arrives in your home healthy, happy and worry free for you. Some puppies, especially the small breeds such as Yorkies and Maltese, can stay in our kennel up to 16 weeks. These breeds are more fragile when they are young and need extra time to mature and grow than the larger breeds. Although you may be impatient to see your new puppy, it is worth the wait to make sure he/she arrives at your home healthy and remains that way. When your puppy is ready to go to his new home, we will arrange airline transportation of the puppy. Friday is our normal shipping day but special arrangments can be made if Friday is not convenient for you. Because of the distance between Koedam Kennels and the closest major airport, we do charge an additional $75.00 fee if you request a day other than Friday. We ship puppies primarily with Northwest Airlines to airports with Northwest Airline Cargo Service. Airline shipment costs $230.00 plus additional fees,and that charge is paid to the airline when you pick up the puppy. Some airports do not have cargo service and your puppy will need to be shipped VIP to the airport closest to you. VIP cost is $300.00 + fees. You can call NWA cargo to find out the closest airport with cargo services at: 1-800-692-2746. Please choose the airport you would like your puppy shipped to. Winter/Summer Shipment Warning: Due to low temperatures around the country, shipping during the winter months can be difficult. The temperature at the origin airport, the connecting airport and the arriving airport must be above 10 degrees. Airlines will cancel shipments to airports with temperatures below 10 degrees. Likewise, in the summer temperatures must be below 85 degrees for shipment. If your puppy's shipment is canceled due to temperatures, we will make every effort to ship the puppy as soon as the weather looks favorable. We may have to ship late in the afternoon and we have to be ready to ship any day of the week to avoid temperature conflicts. We ship from the Sioux Falls, South Dakota airport. During his/her travel adventure, your puppy will be in a comfortable, reusable shipping kennel with plenty of food and water for the trip. He/she will be placed in a temperature controlled and comfortable part of the plane. A veterinarian will inspect your puppy prior to the flight to certify that he or she is healthy. A reusable shipping kennel and a health inspection given by a veterinarian will be provided for air shipment and require an additional $50.00 fee at checkout. Puppies shipped after 12 weeks of age are given a free rabies vaccination. But remember that you are also required to pay the airline for shipping the puppy to you. The cost of shipping the dog with the airline is about $230.00 + fees. The shipping charge is paid to the airline when you pick up your puppy from the airport. 800-692-2746.
